The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday provided an update on additional teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
According to details, during a meeting between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and owners of PSL franchises it was decided that two additional teams will be included in PSL from 2026.
“The PSL 2025 will be the last time that six teams will feature in the tournament. From PSL 2026, it has been planned to add two more teams,” the PCB stated.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion also took place on the window for PSL 2025. The PCB is of the opinion that holding PSL 10 alongside Indian Premier League (IPL) next year will be beneficial for the players and fans.
Earlier this month, the PCB had proposed April 7 to May 20 window for the PSL 2025, due to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year, but it clashes with the window for IPL.
The PCB also reiterated that it will provide support to the franchises with regards to signing marquee players ahead of next season.
The PCB will also consider Peshawar and Quetta as potential venues for the PSL but this will be subject to support from both cities.
In March this year, Islamabad United won the PSL season nine after beating Multan Sultans by two wickets at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.
Islamabad, led by Shadab Khan, claimed their third PSL title after emerging victorious in 2016 and 2018 and became the most successful team in the tournament's history.
